PONDA: A 45-year-old man was brought dead to the Primary Health Centre at Pilliem in Dharbandora on Sunday afternoon after being found unconscious at Tisk-Usgao.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Santosh Madar, originally from Vijayapura, Karnataka, who was residing near the Nestle factory at Tisk-Usgao, Ponda. Information regarding the case was received from PHC Pilliem at around 2:10 pm on May 3.
Police visited the health centre and conducted an inquiry with the deceased’s sister, Somuva Mulimani, with whom he was staying. She stated that the deceased had a history of chronic alcohol consumption and would often not return home, choosing instead to sleep by the roadside after drinking.
An inquest panchanama was conducted over the body, which has been preserved at the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, for further medico-legal procedures.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Sushant Gaonkar of Ponda Police Station.
