PERNEM: Mandrem Police have registered a case against a 55-year-old man for allegedly accepting gambling bets from the general public in an open place at Boma, Palyiem, Pernem.
According to a State complaint filed by HC 4820 Satish Shetye of Mandrem Police Station, the accused, Shanker Mangesh Gawade (55), a resident of House No. 364, Bhulkhajan, Korgao, Pernem-Goa, was apprehended at around 6:30 p.m. on June 9 near Vishwanath Hotel, Boma, Palyiem.
Police alleged that the accused was accepting bets from members of the public on numeric-digit gambling in an open public place. During the operation, officers seized ₹1,100 in cash along with other gambling-related materials from his possession.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is being carried out by HC 4820 Satish Shetye of Mandrem Police Station.
