Old Goa: Old Goa Police Station registered a gambling case following a raid conducted near Darga, Indiranagar, Chimbel on February 27, 2026.
As per the state complaint filed by ASI Sayeed Abdulla, at around 12.55 pm, the accused identified as Mahammad Rafeeq Buwaji (34), a resident of Indiranagar, Chimbel, was caught red-handed allegedly accepting bets from members of the public on numerical digits and issuing paper slips in an open public place.
During the raid, police seized cash amounting to ₹1,180 in different denominations along with other gambling-related articles from his possession.
The accused was arrested at 3.24 pm and subsequently released on bail at 4.10 pm. Police informed that all Supreme Court guidelines were observed during the proceedings.
ASI Sayeed Abdulla of Old Goa Police Station is investigating the case further.
