KUNDAI: A 55-year-old man died after falling from a mango tree while plucking mangoes at Kundai in Ponda on Tuesday evening.
According to Mardol Police, Ramdas Naik, a resident of Dharjo Wada, Kundai, was brought dead to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Madkai, at around 5.48 p.m. on July 14, 2026.
During the inquiry, police recorded the statement of the deceased’s cousin, Prakash Naik, who stated that Ramdas had climbed a mango tree near the Government School at Kundai to pluck mangoes. While doing so, a branch reportedly broke, causing him to fall to the ground and suffer fatal injuries.
He was immediately shifted to PHC Madkai, where the doctor declared him brought dead.
Police conducted the unnatural death occurrence panchanama and inquest over the body. The body has been preserved at the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for medico-legal formalities.
Further inquiry is being conducted by PSI Nitesh Kankonkar of Mardol Police Station.
