MAPUSA: A 47-year-old man from Maharashtra died after allegedly falling from a height while cleaning solar panels at a property in North Goa, police said.
The deceased, identified as Mahesh Dalvi, a resident of Ratnagiri in Maharashtra, had reportedly sustained grievous injuries in the incident that occurred at Rajwado in Mapusa on May 23.
According to police, the case came to light on May 26 at around 7 pm after Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, informed authorities that Dalvi had succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Police said Dalvi had been admitted to GMC as a medico-legal case following the fall. Preliminary inquiry revealed that he was engaged in cleaning rooftop solar panels when he allegedly lost balance and fell from an elevated height.
Despite receiving treatment for several days, he later died at the hospital, police added.
An unnatural death case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The incident has once again brought attention to safety concerns involving workers engaged in rooftop solar maintenance and cleaning activities, especially the need for proper protective equipment and fall-prevention measures at elevated work sites.
