MARGAO: Margao Town Police have registered an unnatural death case after a 53-year-old man died of electrocution while allegedly repairing a ceiling fan at his rented accommodation in Khareband, Margao.
According to police, information was received from District Hospital, Margao, at around 10.32 pm on June 3, 2026, that Sanjay Dongare (53), a resident of Shirvodem, Khareband, originally from Maharashtra, had been brought dead to the casualty ward by a 108 ambulance.
During enquiries, the deceased’s brother, Balaji Dongare, informed police that Sanjay was living alone in a rented room and reportedly suffered an electric shock while repairing a ceiling fan.
Police subsequently conducted a scene-of-occurrence panchanama and inquest proceedings. The body was sent for post-mortem examination, and the police surgeon certified the cause of death as electrocution.
Following completion of legal formalities, the body was handed over to family members for the last rites.
