PANAJI: Goa Police has registered a cyber fraud case after a 51-year-old man from Cuncolim reported losing ₹1,37,833 to a fake “RTO e-Challan” mobile application scam.
According to the complaint filed on February 26, 2026 at 7.08 pm, Mr. George Sequeira, presently residing at Caranzalem, stated that on February 20, 2026 at around 12.30 pm, unknown accused persons fraudulently sent him a malicious APK file titled “RTO e-Challan.”
The complainant was allegedly induced to download the file and enter his banking and vehicle details. By doing so, the accused reportedly gained unauthorised access to his bank account and WhatsApp account and dishonestly withdrew ₹1,37,833 without his consent.
Police said the accused cheated the complainant by personation through computer resources. PSI Mahesh Naik is conducting further investigation into the matter.
