CALANGUTE: Calangute Police have arrested a woman from Mangaluru in connection with the death of a Udupi-based water sports entrepreneur whose body was found in a resort room in Calangute on June 30.
Police identified the accused as Akshata alias Rupashree C. Investigators said she allegedly left Goa following the incident and was traced to Mangaluru based on specific intelligence inputs.
A police team from Calangute travelled to Karnataka and, with the assistance of the Karnataka Police, conducted a three-day search operation before apprehending the woman in Mangaluru on Friday.
The deceased was a former driver of a former Karnataka minister and had later become a water sports entrepreneur based in Udupi.
Police said the accused has been placed under transit remand and is expected to be brought to Goa on Saturday morning.
Investigators are expected to question her to establish the sequence of events leading to the entrepreneur’s death. Further investigation is in progress.
