VASCO: A 33-year-old mason died after falling from the second floor of a house under construction at New Vaddem, Vasco, on Sunday afternoon.
Police identified the deceased as Altab Milah, a native of West Bengal residing at New Vaddem, Vasco.
According to Vasco Police, information about the incident was received from SDH Chicalim at around 3.45 pm after the victim was brought to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Preliminary enquiry revealed that the deceased was removing a metal plate erected on wooden supports on the second floor of the house when he allegedly slipped and fell onto the road below, sustaining severe injuries.
Police conducted an inquest over the body and referred it to the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for a post-mortem examination. The autopsy attributed the death to cranio-cerebral injuries, including intracerebral haemorrhage and skull fracture, along with blunt force injuries to the chest and multiple skeletal fractures consistent with a fall from height.
After completion of legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for the last rites.
