NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister JP Nadda has described his meeting with a delegation of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) as “good”, a day after holding discussions with the group amid ongoing protests over the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak and examination irregularities.
Speaking briefly after the meeting, Nadda said the discussions were “good, as always”, while declining to elaborate further on the outcome of the talks.
The minister held two rounds of discussions with a CJP delegation led by representatives Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. The meetings came as hundreds of protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, demanding accountability over the alleged paper leak and irregularities in the national medical entrance examination.
During the first meeting, the delegation presented its concerns and demands. They were subsequently asked to submit their proposals in writing. Later in the afternoon, the representatives returned to the minister’s residence and handed over a formal memorandum outlining their key demands.
The memorandum sought compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the NEET UG paper leak controversy. It also called for the resignation of the Union Education Minister and the release of activist Sonam Wangchuk.
Wangchuk joined the protest movement in late June and has been observing an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. He has been demanding greater accountability from the government over the alleged irregularities in national level examinations and has also called for the Education Minister’s resignation.
Despite the discussions, there was no indication that the government had accepted any of the demands presented by the delegation. According to sources, Nadda appealed to the protesters to end their agitation and cooperate with the authorities in restoring normalcy.
The demonstrations over the NEET UG 2026 controversy have continued to draw significant public attention, with students and activists pressing for greater transparency and accountability in the examination process.
