PONDA: Sarthak Foundation Goa will organize a Mega Career Guidance Camp at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir Ponda on 19 July to encourage youths to join the Indian Armed forces with the support of the 6 Technical Training Regiment (6TTR) at Ponda.
This was stated to the media by Sarthak Foundation Convenor Sudesh Narvekar, Uday Dangui, Kishan Mangeshkar, and Vinod Chimulkar.
He further said the function will be inaugurated at 10 am at the hands of the Arts and Culture Minister, NRI Commissioner Adv. Narendra Savoikar, while Karnal Manvendra is in charge at 6 TTR, will be the resource person, and the speaker will be Major Khusbu Pathani. The students can interact and question about recruitment process with Army officials. Students can also ask about the new Agniveer scheme. The programme will last for two hours, including the inauguration session.
Sudesh Narvekar said this is the first such effort to guide and create awareness among Goan youths to encourage them to join the Indian Army. There are various job opportunities in Army. He said the percentage of Goans joining the Army is very less due to the misconception that Army means you have to give your life while performing duty at the border.
Last time hundreds of students from various parts gave recruitment tests at Ponda and joined Army; however, just three to four were from Goa.
Now, after the career guidance camp in future, even if one per cent gets recruited into Army, We will consider our camp is successful.
The camp encourages unemployed youths not to sit at home after completing their education. He said No body knows about the recruitment of vacancies in the Army. He said 1250 students from various schools had been registered to join this camp. If we get a good response, We will even launch Defence Academy to train youths with the guidance of retired army personnel, said Sudesh Narvekar.
