PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has dismissed the petition of former Minister Mickky Pacheco asking the Crime branch to order the release of his documents, laptop, mobile phone, hard drive, and other items that were seized in 2010.
The petition was dismissed. Pacheco argued that until his materials are released, he will not be able to reply to the notice from tax authorities regarding a reassessment.
When the high court decided Pacheco’s case, it assessed him costs of Rs 25,000. The judicial magistrate first class issued an order on February 6, 2018, directing the release of his seized materials, subject to conditions, and the court noted that this amounted to abuse of process in his petition.
