BANASTARIM: A rash and negligent driving case has been registered by Old Goa Police following a collision between a mini bus and a tempo traveller near Banastari Bridge that left one passenger injured.
According to police, the offence was registered on April 25 based on a state complaint filed by HC Vinod Fondvekar of Old Goa Police Station.
The incident occurred on April 23 at around 2:02 pm near Banastari Bridge at Dhulapi. Police said the accused driver, identified as Deepak Naik (50), a resident of Shiroda, Ponda, was driving a Tata mini bus (GA-05-T-3708) from Old Goa towards Ponda.
He allegedly drove the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner, without proper care and caution, and collided with an oncoming Force tempo traveller (GA-04-T-9893) coming from the opposite direction. After the accident, the accused reportedly fled the scene.
As a result of the collision, a passenger in the tempo traveller, Rajesh Korgaonkar (32) from Bicholim, sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim.
Old Goa Police have registered the case, and further investigation is being carried out by HC Vinod Fondvekar.
