PANAJI: In a joint interstate operation, Goa Police successfully rescued two missing schoolchildren from Nashik, Maharashtra, days after they were reported missing from Cuncolim in South Goa.
A man originally from Uttar Pradesh and currently residing in Cuncolim has been arrested in connection with the case.
The minors had gone missing earlier this week, prompting Cuncolim Police to register a missing persons case and initiate a swift investigation.
Acting on technical surveillance and leads obtained from call detail records, investigators traced the children’s location outside Goa.
Once it was confirmed that the minors had been taken to Nashik, Goa Police coordinated with Maharashtra authorities to conduct the rescue operation.
The children were found safe and are being brought back to Goa to be reunited with their families.
The arrested individual is now being interrogated to determine the extent of his involvement.
Police are probing whether he acted independently or was part of a larger group involved in the abduction.
Officials believe his questioning could provide key details about the circumstances of the incident.
