SALIGAO: Saligao MLA and Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) Chairman Kedar Naik distributed clay mixing machines and paint compressors to artisans engaged in crafting traditional eco-friendly Ganesh idols in the Saligao constituency.
According to a press release, the equipment was purchased and distributed from Naik’s personal funds after the machines usually provided by the Goa Handicrafts Department were unavailable due to a shortage. The initiative aimed to ensure that artisans could continue their work without disruption ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Speaking on the occasion, Naik said Ganesh Chaturthi is one of Goa’s most cherished festivals and praised local artisans for preserving the tradition of making eco-friendly Ganesh idols.
He appreciated their commitment to safeguarding Goa’s cultural heritage and assured them of his continued support in promoting and strengthening traditional craftsmanship.
