ST ANDRE: St. Andre MLA and Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) National President Viresh Borkar has provided a clay moulding machine to a local artisan from Santan, St. Andre, within two days of receiving her request, in a move aimed at supporting self-employment and traditional craftsmanship.
The beneficiary, Deepti Vernekar, will use the machine to prepare eco-friendly Ganesh idols ahead of the upcoming festive season. The equipment is expected to improve productivity while helping preserve Goa’s traditional idol-making practices.
Expressing her gratitude, Vernekar thanked the MLA for responding promptly to her request, stating that the machine would enable her to continue her work with greater confidence and efficiency.
Speaking on the occasion, Borkar said supporting artisans, women entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals remains a priority. He emphasised that timely assistance to traditional occupations is vital for strengthening local livelihoods and preserving Goa’s cultural heritage.
The initiative has been welcomed by local residents, who appreciated the prompt assistance extended to the artisan.
