VASCO: Round-the-clock security and CCTV cameras are in the offing for the Vasco Garden, which is being renovated by the Mormugao Municipal Council.
On Wednesday, MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues and Councillor Shami Salkar conducted a joint inspection to review renovation works.
MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues said that it was important that two gardens in the town be developed.
“These gardens have many childhood memories of Vascokars, and we are glad that business houses have come forward to help the MMC in this noble cause,” he said.
He also urged the other business houses to come forward to take up projects in the city.
Salkar, speaking to reporters, said that works were taken under CSR by the Suvarna Bandekar.
“The works on the garden would be taken in phases. We will retain the feel but improve the compound and raise the fence. We will also have illumination and CCTV cameras if possible and also have security to avoid entry of anti-social elements. We will also take up work on the other garden once this garden is taken up,’ said Salkar.
