MORMUGAO: The two-day Mormugao Summer Fest concluded on Sunday on a vibrant note, drawing an overwhelming response from people across the taluka, with crowds far exceeding expectations and the venue packed to capacity.
Organised under the leadership of MLA Sankalp Amonkar, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals and visitors alike, turning the festival grounds into a lively hub of music, culture and entertainment. The closing day saw the presence of Minister Subhash Faldessai, Minister Subhash Shirodkar and BJP State President Damu Naik, adding prominence to the occasion.
One of the key highlights of the evening was a fashion show curated by Verma Dmello, which received an encouraging response from the audience. The show featured a blend of style and creativity, showcasing local talent and adding glamour to the celebrations.
The star attraction of the festival was renowned Bollywood singer Sudesh Bhosle, widely known as the voice of Amitabh Bachchan. His performance electrified the atmosphere, with the crowd cheering and singing along as he delivered a series of popular numbers. His presence added a major draw to the event, contributing to the massive turnout on the final day.
Stalls set up by self-help groups and local vendors also witnessed heavy footfall, with visitors exploring a variety of food, handicrafts and local products throughout the festival. The overall atmosphere remained festive and energetic, with families and youth turning up in large numbers.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Sankalp Amonkar termed the event a grand success and expressed gratitude to the people for their support and participation. He also acknowledged the favourable weather conditions, thanking the “Rain God” for holding back showers during the two-day event, which ensured uninterrupted proceedings.
The successful hosting of the Mormugao Summer Fest has added a new dimension to community celebrations in the constituency, with organisers expressing confidence of making it a regular feature in the years ahead.
