PORVORIM: A traffic police constable has filed a complaint against a motorist for allegedly threatening, abusing and obstructing him while he was regulating traffic near Malim junction following a road accident.
According to the complaint lodged by Head Constable Sushant Mhapankar of the Traffic Cell, Porvorim, he was on traffic regulation duty on Friday between 2 pm and 10 pm when the incident occurred at around 3.15 pm.
Police said the accused, identified as Audumbar alias Uday Bandodkar, was driving a Tata Tiago EV (GA-07-N-9064) from Panaji towards Porvorim. He allegedly drove on the wrong side of the bridge at high speed despite heavy traffic caused by an earlier accident.
When the traffic constable signalled the driver to stop, the accused allegedly ignored the instructions and drove the vehicle towards the complainant. He is also accused of threatening and abusing the constable, saying he would “finish” him, before allegedly pushing the officer and speeding away towards Porvorim.
Based on the complaint, Porvorim Police have registered Crime No. 57/2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, for obstructing and threatening a public servant while discharging official duty.
