VASCO: The Mormugao Port Trust is vigorously pursuing to get the insurance claim made by the vessel M. T. Nushi Nalini in Port’s favour to overcome the losses to the tune of Rs 55 cr.

With reference to the public grievance, in the matter of recovery of port dues on account of grounded vessel M. T. Nushi Nalini, it is informed that: The Mormugao Port Trust has taken appropriate steps for guarding its interest,” it said.
“Moreover, MPT is vigorously pursuing to get the insurance claim made by the vessel M. T. Nushi Nalini in Port’s favour,” the MPT said in a reply.
The port further said that MPT takes appropriate action against the officials for their misconduct if any.
In the preliminary inquiry and verification, CBI had found that ‘illegal anchoring of Naphta laden vessel Nu Shi Nalini’ has caused loss of ₹ 55 crores to the state exchequer.
CBI has found evidence that MPT official Capt. Manoj Joshi, Captain of the vessel- Arun Mishra and vessel company owner Pawan Arya hatched the conspiracy and anchored the vessel illegally at MPT.
CBI has sought permission from the Ministry of Shipping to book Capt. Manoj Joshi.
The ship had run aground on October 24, 2019, during Cyclone Kyarr and later ended several missing deadlines on draining out the naphtha and refloating the vessel, set by the State government over the past month.
The 144-metre chemical tanker MV Nu-Shi Nalini ran aground on a rocky shelf risking its contents.
