VASCO: Pilgrims travelling from Goa to Velankanni for the annual feast of “Our Lady of Good Health” will have additional rail connectivity, with the Railway Board approving special train services from Vasco during the festival period.
The first service, Train No. 07361 Vasco–Velankanni Express Special, will start from Vasco at 9.55 pm on August 27 and again on September 1. The train is scheduled to reach Velankanni at 3.45 am on the third day of the journey.
The corresponding return service, Train No. 07362 Velankanni–Vasco Express Special, will operate from Velankanni at 11.55 pm on August 29 and September 3, reaching Vasco at around 3 am on the third day.
A further pair of services has also been scheduled. Train No. 07365 Vasco–Velankanni Express Special will depart Vasco at 9.55 pm on September 6 and arrive at Velankanni at 3.45 am on September 8.
On the return journey, Train No. 07366 Velankanni–Vasco Express Special will leave Velankanni at 1 am on September 9 and is scheduled to reach Vasco at 3 am on September 10.
The services will provide connectivity through a number of stations across Goa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The designated halts include Margao, Sanvordem Curchorem, Kulem, Castle Rock, Londa, Dharwad, SSS Hubballi, SMM Haveri, Davangere, Birur, Arsikere, Tumakuru, SMVT Bengaluru, Krishnarajapuram, Bangarapet, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Tiruchchirappalli, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur and Nagappattinam.
Each special train will have a 19-coach composition. This will include six Three-Tier AC coaches, seven Sleeper Class coaches and four General Second Class coaches.
The remaining coaches will comprise a Second Class Luggage-cum-Brake Van with a facility for Divyangjan passengers and a Luggage-cum-Guard-cum-Generator Car.
