PANAJI: Residents of Zarina Towers at Tonca-St Inez have been dealing with discoloured and muddy water from their taps for the past several days, raising concerns over the quality of their daily water supply.
According to residents, the problem is suspected to have originated after a water pipeline was damaged during construction activity on a neighbouring plot. They said the damaged line may have allowed mud and other material to enter the water supply.
Although efforts have reportedly been initiated to address the problem, residents said the muddy water has continued to reach their homes, leaving them inconvenienced and concerned about using the supply for household needs.
Rajdeep Constructions, which is carrying out the nearby construction work, has reportedly assured residents that the necessary repairs and corrective measures will be undertaken.
The issue also prompted Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Mayor Rohit Monserrate to visit Zarina Towers on Thursday. He was accompanied by the ward councillor and engineers associated with Rajdeep Constructions.
During the visit, the Mayor met residents and inspected the situation. In a social media post, Monserrate said the interaction helped authorities understand the problem more clearly and assess the measures needed to resolve it.
He said the focus was on finding a workable solution and ensuring that the issue was addressed at the earliest.
Residents are now seeking a permanent solution, urging the concerned authorities and the developer to complete the necessary repairs and restore a clean and regular water supply to the housing complex.
