Mapusa: A Nari Shakti Padyatra held in Mapusa witnessed strong support for the proposed Women’s Reservation Bill, with leaders reaffirming their commitment to women’s empowerment and inclusive governance.
Mapusa MLA Joshua DeSouza participated in the padyatra and expressed firm backing for the legislation, which seeks to reserve 33 per cent of seats for women in legislative bodies. He termed the move a significant step towards enhancing women’s participation in decision-making processes.
The rally saw active participation from women across Bardez, reflecting growing awareness and grassroots support for the initiative.
Among those present were Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo, Mapusa Mahila Morcha President Roshan Naik, Councillors Dr Nutan Bicholkar and Shubhangi Vaigankar, along with several Mahila members from the region.
The Nari Shakti Vandan rally aimed to spread awareness about the importance of the 33 per cent reservation and mobilise public support at the grassroots level.
