While Goa has the opportunity to host the event this year, after almost a 10-year delay, the sportspersons in Goa also have an opportunity to make a mark and display their talent at the national level.
For many, National Games seems to be only building of infrastructure.
Having the National Games is important for the athlete to get connected to their state identity. For the sportsman like Goa’s where we seldom have any medalwinners at international event, this is a great opportunity.
While you want to become a national hero, you also want to become a hero for the state
From the state point of view, we expect them to spend money on sport infrastructure and training of sportspersons, so the athletes should also have an opportunity to showcase their efforts and talent and get credit in return.

Yes, budgeting is always a problem in Indian sport, and that is one of teh prime reasons why Goa delayed year after year in hosting National Games.
But for athletes, as they know the budget for teh Games is much more than other events the rewards are also more.
The National Games is a great concept otherwise how else do you get a healthy competition among states? How do you build team spirit? How do you create some competition which is on the lines of the Olympics in India? With the National Games, a lot of fringe players get a feel of what it is like to work in a team environment. A lot of talent can be unearthed. It’s just unfortunate that they’ve been postponed for so many years.
In the history of Goa, the 37th National Games marks a great opportunity to lead the biggest sports event in which around 10000 players from all states will participate. This is indeed a proud moment for the state.
The National Games will be held across 28 venues. After a wait of 10 years, the National Games are going to be held, Goa is excited for the event by prepping up in a remarkable period of just 3 months.

Events like Ironman and the World Table Tennis event have showcased our capabilities in hosting international sporting events. With state-of-the-art infrastructure developed for the National Games, we invite sports associations and national federations to utilize these facilities year-round. Our objective is to elevate sports in Goa to new heights.”
