PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said that his government has proposed a new scheme for journalists whose services or lives have either been affected due to COVID-19.
“Government has proposed a new scheme to journalists, whose services or lives were affected due to Covid-19 pandemic. The scheme will be out in 2-3 months,” said Sawant.
He further said that criticism of the state government is always welcoming, but on the other hand, it should be constructive too.
Sawant also urged the journalists to play a crucial role in exploring Goa’s hidden gems and tourist spots to help Goa become India’s tourism capital.
The subsidy scheme for the purchase of computers, laptops, tablets and cameras for journalists and photojournalists is an old 2013 sop revived by the Sawant government.
Under it, journalists who have been in the profession for eight years and more are eligible for a subsidy of up to Rs 50,000 for purchasing laptops, PCs and tablets.
Similarly, photojournalists are eligible for a subsidy of up to Rs one lakh for purchasing professional cameras. However, those who availed of the scheme in 2013 will not be eligible now.
