Prashant Lotlikar was unanimously elected as Vice-President, Prakash Gawas as Secretary and Suresh Naik as Treasurer. Notably, all the newly elected office-bearers are first-time members of the Saptah Utsav Committee, signalling a new generation of leadership for one of Vasco’s oldest and most revered religious festivals.
More than 200 members attended the meeting and unanimously approved the new committee, formally initiating preparations for this year’s Damodar Bhajani Saptah.
Addressing the gathering, Central Committee President Prashant Joshi said the committee would coordinate closely with the district administration, Goa Police, Fire and Emergency Services, the Health Department and other government agencies to ensure the festival is conducted smoothly, safely and peacefully.
Joshi also announced that comprehensive public insurance would once again be provided for the event to ensure protection for devotees and participants throughout the celebrations.
The newly elected committee assured devotees that all government guidelines and safety protocols would be strictly followed. Members also pledged to preserve the rich traditions and spiritual legacy of the Damodar Bhajani Saptah while ensuring disciplined and well-organised arrangements.
The Damodar Bhajani Saptah is among Vasco’s oldest and most significant religious festivals, drawing thousands of devotees from across Goa and neighbouring states every year. The week-long celebration, featuring devotional bhajans, prayers and community participation, has upheld a tradition of faith for more than 125 years.
