PORVOPRIM: A day after businessman Ricardo D’Souza, owner of Tito’s night club, announced he would contest Assembly polls on BJP ticket, the party’s State unit president Sadanand Shet Tanawade said that he has no knowledge of development.
“I do not have any idea of Mr D’Souza meeting any party leaders in Delhi. The local office here has no idea,” he said.
Tanawade said Mr D’Souza must have met people in Delhi, but nothing is informed to them.
“For us, we have a sitting MLA Michael Lobo there, and we do not see any reason to deny him a ticket as of now,” he said.
He further said the issue of the ticket will be decided later.
“It is too early to comment now on tickets,” he said.
Popularly known as Ricky, took to social media to announce that he would be contesting the polls.
He, however, did not mention whether he is contesting from Calangute or Siolim.
“For those who are asking why I am contesting elections this time…Not really in this Political drama for myself. I will offer to serve the people for 5 years as a token of gratitude for what this country gave me,” he said. He says then he will leave and it is up to the people to decide if they want him.
