* Vijai alleges that National Games will be a bigger scam than the Commonwealth Games
PORVORIM: while stating there is no point in supporting the BJP RS nominee, the Leader of Opposition (LOP) said that the United Opposition will come out with a decision on Rajya Sabha polls today.
Seven Opposition MLAs this morning met at the Chamber of Leader of Opposition to discuss strategy for the upcoming Assembly Session.
“There is no point in supporting the BJP RS nominee; the the United Opposition will come out with a decision on Rajya Sabha polls today,” said LoP Yuri Alemao
He further said that he was not with any particular party regarding the issue of Mhadei, and he was also ready to resign.
“For me, Goa is the most important,” he said
Alemao also said there is no sign of resuming mining activities in the state.
BJP had promised resumption of mining and revival of the economy, but it pushed the state towards bankruptcy, said Alemao
“The BJP government is insensitive. It has spent crores on event management and publicity and continues to do so while beneficiaries of welfare schemes are deprived of their rightful financial assistance,” alleged Alemao.
Alemao said that the meeting with the other opposition party members was conveyed to have a consensus on floor management.
Issues such as the diversion of the Mhadei River, resumption of the mining industry, environmental concerns, inflation, law and order situation, wasteful expenditure by the state government on holding events, and corruption, among other problems, would be taken up to corner the state government, he said.
Alemao further alleged that the BJP was trying to trigger communal tension in the state ahead of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled in 2024.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said that it’s the Opposition’ work to expose the state government.
Sardesai said that the Taj Mahal of Shah Jahan is not yet complete, and they are bringing National Games, “this will be a bigger scam than the commonwealth games,” said Sardesai
