VALPOI: White water rafting, part of the Goa Tourism Corporation’s adventure tourism, has taken a break this year due to the outbreak of COVID19 pandemic.
Many adventurous tourists have become restless as the opportunity to do white water rafting in the Mhadei river is missed.
The rafting begins at Uste, in Nagargaon Panchayat area of Sattari taluka to Savarde, one gets an opportunity to experience and see the white water rafting in the Mhadei river basin in monsoon season.
Former Chief Minister, late Manohar Parrikar, had inaugurated the project. White water starts from this part of the forest; tourists get a chance to see the rich natural beauty on both sides of the Mhadei River as they raft through the cascading river in Savarde site, which covers a distance of about 12 km in 90 minutes.
The corporation has awarded the white water rafting contract to an American company.
John Pollard, a trained person, has successfully handled this white water rafting project for the past few years. The project is located at Dandeli in Karnataka.
The white water brings a lot of revenue to the local panchayat Nagargaon Gram Panchayat, which has a good revenue increase.
Besides, the local traders too make a good earning.
