CANACONA: A non-communicable diseases camp was held to prevent and control cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, TB, etc, at Khola village.
The camp was held by Community Health Centre(CHC), Canacona and Mukta Dhrishti Foundation with the highly equipped medical mobile unit/ambulance fully supported by Khola Panchayat.
With an aim to generate awareness about non-communicable but life-threatening diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular, Strokes, etc., free testing sugar (fasting & randon0, Blood Pressure, Hemoglobin check-up, physician, ophthalmic (digital) check-ups, ECG on the spot, Blood investigation on the spot were provided free of cost to the participants.
Congratulating frontline health workers, and assuring support, Dy. Collector and SDO Canacona Ramesh Gaonkar inaugurated the outreach health camp by lightening traditional lamps in the presence of CHC Health Officer Dr Jose Tawares, Women & Child Development Office Project Officer Ashanka Gaonkar and others.
About 150 patients were diagnosed in different types of health reference cases and given free medicines through CHC quota; while about 90 Blood Tests were done through Health Bag, 65 people were subjected to Ophthalmic screening, out of which 04 patients were identified for Cataract treatment.
The high-risk patients suspected of NCDs were identified and suggested for follow-up and further treatment. Sr. Physician Dr Ivona Barretto, and Dr Sneha Naik, examined the patient’s along with Dr Kajal Naik, a resource person from Yuvaraj Singh Foundation, for screening of Breast & Cervical Cancer using visual inspection with acetic acid.
Apart from the health program, a special Aadhar Card Correction Facility has been provided through the Directorate of Tribal Welfare Department in association with Village Panchayat. Altogether 40 numbers of Aadhard Card beneficiaries have registered their application to rectify their name, Date of Birth and address, which are found to be wrongly mentioned on their Aadhar Card.
Founder of Mukta Drishti Foundation- Kishore Sarsolkar, President of Rotary Club of Margao Midtown- Naresh Lolienkar, Dy Sarpanch, V. P. Cola, Kritesh Velip along with Panch members Pandhari Prabhu Desai, Krishna Velip, were present.
Prashant Devidas compeered, while Dr Classie Furtado proposed a vote of thanks.
