PONDA: Ponda Deputy Collector Pradeep Naik has issued notices to two shops/ gaddas at OPA Khandepar Junction, asking them to submit their say for encroachment on PWD acquired land at OPA Khandepar Junction. They are also directed to produce documents for their shops.
Locals had filed a complaint with PWD, Deputy Collector, alleging that the PWD land at the roadside, which was acquired for Bus Stop, was encroached by shops/Gadhas.
The PWD also directed Panchayat to clear encroachment on PWD acquired land.
According to local Sandeep Parkar, one landlord allotted his land to PWD at the roadside, especially to construct a Bus Shed following a fatal accident a few decades back. “Today, the need for Bus Shed is badly felt as hundreds of students stand at the roadside waiting for bus arrival after school hours. Recently one School student was hit by a speeding car while waiting for the bus,” he said.
A few months ago, a speeding truck had rammed into Hotel at OPA Khandepar Junction.
In this background, the parents and locals fear for the life of students and demand the construction of a Bus Shed for the safety of school students at OPA Junction.
