SANKHALI: A 32-year-old labourer from Odisha died after allegedly falling from the second floor of an under-construction building in Sankhalim during the early hours of the day.
The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Dalbehera, a native of Odisha who was employed at the construction site.
According to police, the incident occurred around midnight when Dalbehera, who was sleeping at the site along with other workers, got up to attend nature’s call. While moving around the second floor of the building, he allegedly lost his balance and slipped, falling approximately 5.3 metres to the ground below.
He sustained serious injuries in the fall and was declared dead.
Police have initiated an inquiry into the incident and are verifying the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall. Further investigation is in progress.
