PANAJI: A 32-year-old guy from Odisha was taken into custody by the Goa Police’s Crime Branch on suspicion of participating in a prostitution ring.
Police claim that the accused, Subhas Pradhan, who is presently residing in Candolim, worked as a hotel employee and acted as a prostitution agent.
He was taken into custody in accordance with Section 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, Sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, and CBPS FIR 117/2024 U/S 67 of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
This is the case’s fourth arrest. Earlier on November 10, two more were taken into custody from Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh. They were identified as Mohammad Mohebbulla, 30, from Gurgaon, and Syed Usman, 54, from Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. Yogesh Kumar, 42, a native of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, was the third accused and was taken into custody in Delhi.
Through a well-organized network of agents, the accused were running a prostitution ring and an escort website. Customers utilized the phone number they supplied on the website. Customers confirmed that the accused worked with other chain participants to complete transactions.
