Panaji: Officials connected to Goa’s petroleum supply chain have dismissed concerns over any immediate fuel shortage in the State, assuring that petrol and diesel supplies remain stable despite growing public speculation following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal for fuel conservation.
Concerns over fuel availability gained momentum on social media and among sections of the public after the Prime Minister urged citizens to reduce dependence on fuel and adopt alternative modes of transport amid rising global tensions.
The remarks triggered fears of a possible fuel shortage, leading to discussions and speculation in several parts of the State.
However, senior officials associated with fuel depots and petroleum distribution in Goa have ruled out any immediate crisis and stated that the State currently has sufficient fuel reserves.
Officials said Goa continues to receive a steady inflow of petroleum cargo through Mormugao Port and there is no disruption in the supply chain.
Authorities also appealed to the public not to panic or engage in unnecessary bulk purchasing of fuel based on rumours circulating online.
“There is absolutely no reason to panic. Fuel supply in the State remains normal,” officials said.
Sources linked to the petroleum sector stated that monitoring of reserves and distribution continues on a regular basis and adequate arrangements are in place to maintain uninterrupted supply across fuel stations in Goa.
The clarification comes amid increased public discussion over global fuel markets and geopolitical developments impacting energy prices and supply concerns internationally.
