PANAJI: The special investigation team (SIT) probing land grab cases arrested a 42-year-old resident of Pilerne in connection with an alleged case at Anjuna.
As per details shared by Superintendent of Police (SIT) Nidhin Valsan, Kavlekar, a 42-year-old local from Porvorim hatched a criminal conspiracy and cheated the owner of the property in survey No 444/8 of Anjuna Village by forging the documents and submitting it as genuine before the concerned authorities, which enabled the transfer of ownership rights illegally.
A First Information Report (FIR) under various sections of the Indian Penal Code is registered based on a complaint by Antonio Savio D’Costa, the power of attorney holder of the actual owner of the property.
According to the complaint, the illegal process occurred prior to August 13, 2022 at the Office of Mamlatdar Bardez. He named Mathew Antorio D’souza of Mumbai; Kavlekar, Peter John Vaz, Felix Noronha, among over 14 others as accused in the case
