New Delhi: Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday said that Operation Sindoor remains active, with only a temporary cessation of hostilities currently in place. He stressed that the Indian armed forces continue to maintain a high level of operational readiness and are fully prepared to respond to any future developments.
Addressing the passing out parade of the 150th course at the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, the Army Chief said the military is already planning and preparing for future challenges. He noted that the Army, Navy and Air Force are working closely together to enhance joint operational capabilities and strengthen preparedness for evolving security threats.
General Dwivedi indicated that the armed forces are developing strategies and capabilities for potential future scenarios, referring to preparations that could support a possible “Operation Sindoor 2.0” if circumstances require such action. He said the focus remains on building stronger tri service coordination, improving combat effectiveness and adapting to the changing nature of warfare.
The Army Chief also spoke about the transformation of modern battlefields, describing them as increasingly transparent due to advances in surveillance, intelligence gathering and monitoring technologies. According to him, military movements can now be observed almost in real time, making operational secrecy more challenging than ever before.
He explained that this environment demands greater caution in planning and executing military operations. Protecting troops, safeguarding civilians and ensuring secure deployment strategies have become even more critical in contemporary conflict situations.
General Dwivedi further highlighted the importance of information warfare, describing it as a key component of modern military engagements. He said that success in this domain depends not only on technology and communication systems but also on public confidence in reliable information.
Emphasising the role of national unity, he noted that trust between institutions, citizens and information providers strengthens a country’s resilience during periods of conflict. Such cohesion, he said, enhances the nation’s ability to respond effectively to challenges and contributes significantly to overall security and stability.
The remarks underscored the armed forces’ continued focus on readiness, integration and innovation as they prepare for the demands of future warfare.
