New Delhi: More than 100 students were detained by Delhi Police on Sunday while protesting against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the national capital.
The protest was organised by student organisation DISHA, which demanded the cancellation of the SIR exercise.
The students began marching from Minto Road towards Connaught Place as part of their demonstration. However, police personnel intercepted the protesters and prevented them from proceeding further.
Following the intervention, at least 100 students were detained by the police.
The demonstration came amid growing opposition protests against the electoral roll revision exercise, with several political and student organisations raising concerns over the process and demanding its withdrawal.
