NESSAI: A significant fire occurred at the Nessai Industrial Estate early on Tuesday, consuming the Mumta Traders Super Packaging facility at the IDC (Industrial Development Corporation).
After the fire broke out at midnight, fire departments reacted quickly and efficiently to contain the situation.
Fire crews from Margao, Cuncolim, and Curchorem were sent in when locals saw the flames for the first time and raised the alarm.
The firefighters fought the fire valiantly, and they didn’t give up until Tuesday morning at four in the morning.
Significant number of resources were used to put out the fire, with four fire tenders cooperating to fight the flames. The fire was put out thanks to the hard work of the firefighting teams, who used almost 30,000 liters of water.
Given the severity of the situation, the fire departments had to make more trips to refill water while they persisted in their unrelenting efforts to contain the fire.
The fire caused significant damage to Mumta Traders Super Packaging, the affected industrial unit. Investigations will be conducted to identify the events leading up to the incident, as the origin of the fire is still unknown.
The tragedy serves as a reminder of the significance of strong fire safety procedures within industrial estates as the impacted unit evaluates the extent of the damage.
The cause of the fire will be thoroughly investigated by the authorities, who will also put preventative measures in place to stop similar events in the future.
