PANAJI: Valpoi MLA and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has assured that the Paikul bridge, which collapsed in the recent floods, would be re-constructed in the next 9-10 months.
Rane also said that the water crisis will be solved before the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
“Building these bridges was part of my election manifesto, and it has been a top priority for me since the beginning. To ensure our people don’t face any inconvenience, I will pursue the same with the CM. Due to unprecedented incidents of the flood, the Paikul bridge was washed away. We have taken up the matter of rebuilding the bridge with GSIDC,” said Rane.
He further said that he will hold a meeting with all Panch members of Guleli Panchayat and the engineers.
“Since the bridge washed away as a result of the flood, we are working diligently with Disaster Management and other agencies to expedite the process,” he added.
Rane said that long with the Paikul bridge, the government had prioritized work on Sanvordem bridge, which had previously been approved as a single tender. Unfortunately, it was halted due to a pandemic.
“We have pursued it once more with CM via GSIDC, along with an access road for buses & other vehicles,” the MLA said.
Meanwhile, Rane said that when he became a cabinet minister, he moved the tender for the bridge, and the GSIDC board members had already approved it as a single tender.
