SATTARI: Paikul bridge over Ragada river in Sattari taluka which was washed away due to floods on July 23, 2021 will be completed within next 15 to 20 days, informed Satyawan Mandrekar of Surbhi construction.
Adding that the construction of bridge will be completed before the estimated time period Mandrekar said, “Bridge will be completed before the estimated time period, that is May 2023. Apart from add-on strengthning features, as a major focus, the height of bridge has been increased to manifolds in order to avoid inundation of bridge in near future”.
Informing that the actual cost of bridge showed a slight deviation compared to an estimated one, Mandrekar said the slight deviation in cost was due to fluctuation in prices of building material.
Mandrekar said the key work such as putting of RCC deck slab, side railings has been completed. “The bridge has been secured with iron pipes on both the sides for safety. Bridge will be ready once after the construction of connecting road is complete”.
Ajit Desai, a local from Paikul staying in a close vicinity of the bridge informed that construction work of bridge going-on on war footing. He said, “The construction work is being carried out at a very high speed with workers working day and night for its completion”.
Expressing his gratitude to Surbhi Constructions and GSIDC, Desai said the villagers got joyous after looking at the first sight of RCC slab completion. Villagers from Dhada, Melauli, Paikul, Shel, Mainguinim and Murmune villages who were facing inconvenience since two years will get great relief once after the construction of this bridge is complete”.
It was informed that the length of approach roads is 156 m on Melauli side while 105 m on Paikul side. The project which is taken up by the Goa Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) consists of span arrangement of 85 metre.
