PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has clarified that no permissions have been granted during the tenure of the present government for the construction of houses on Comunidade land and asserted that no such permissions will be allowed in the future.
Addressing the media, Sawant said that houses currently existing on Comunidade land were constructed before the present government assumed office. He emphasized that the government has maintained a firm stance against permitting new residential constructions on such land.
The Chief Minister further stated that neither the government nor the respective Comunidades had received revenue from these constructions in the past. However, the government has now initiated the process of collecting the prescribed fees from individuals who had already built houses on Comunidade land.
Sawant said the move is aimed at ensuring proper regulation and recovery of dues associated with existing structures while maintaining the government’s policy against permitting fresh construction on Comunidade properties.
Reiterating the government’s position, the Chief Minister said there will be no approval for new houses on Comunidade land in the future, underscoring the administration’s commitment to safeguarding such lands and ensuring compliance with existing regulations.
