New Delhi: The Indian cricket team is set for a demanding all-format tour of New Zealand later this year, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India announcing a packed schedule comprising five T20 Internationals, five One-Day Internationals and two Test matches.
The tour will run from October 22 to December 1, 2026, and will conclude with two crucial Test matches that form part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.
India’s campaign begins with a five-match T20I series. The opening two matches will be played at Hagley Oval on October 22 and 24 before the action shifts to Henry Stadium, Eden Park and Seddon Park for the remaining fixtures.
The ODI leg starts on November 4 at Eden Park in Auckland. The teams will then travel to Wellington and Hamilton before concluding the 50-over series with two matches at Bay Oval on November 13 and 15.
Following the white-ball contests, attention will turn to the longer format. The first Test will be played at Basin Reserve from November 19 to 23, while the second and final Test will take place at Hagley Oval in Christchurch from November 27 to December 1.
The Test series carries added significance for India, given the team’s challenging record in New Zealand. India have won only two Test series on New Zealand soil in their history. The first came under Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi in 1968, when India secured a memorable 3-1 victory. The second triumph arrived in 2009 under MS Dhoni, with India winning the three-match series 1-0.
More recently, New Zealand have enjoyed the upper hand in the rivalry. India suffered a 2-0 Test series defeat during their last tour in 2020 under Virat Kohli and were also beaten 3-0 at home by a New Zealand side led by Tom Latham in 2023.
With 12 matches across all three formats and valuable World Test Championship points at stake, the 2026 tour promises to be one of India’s most important overseas assignments.
