CANACONA: Claiming injustice by the landlord and the lethargic approach of the authorities concerned, residents of Palolem have petitioned with a Memorandum to the Canacona MLA/Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar for demolishing the more than 100 years ‘Bhatti’ structure and blocking the access to the house.
Palolem residents, led by Councilor and Ex- CMC Chairperson Simon Rebello, handed the Memorandum from Piedade Cardozo to the Speaker at his Canacona Office on Tuesday, requesting to look into the matter and further issue directions to the authorities to take action on the complaint.
The memorandum has attached copies of the previous two complaints to the authorities, Form I & XIV, a survey Plan of the plots concerned, House Tax Receipts, and Photographs showing the demolitions and setting up on Fire.
Naming the Landlords, who are blamed for demolishing the entire structure, having a distillery unit and blocking the front side house entrance, also informed the Speaker that the police personnel refused to stop the demolitions inspite of his requests and also refused to assist the complainant with them.
The senior citizen (Pidade Cardoz) said he has suffered loss and is also going through a lot of tension due to the incident and pleaded for justice from the representative holding power in the government.
