PANAJI: CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate held a discussion with Sushant Figueiredo and Dr Vikrom Mathur of Transitions Research on the future development of Panjim and ways to make the city more responsive to emerging urban challenges.
The discussion focused on the upcoming Emergence: Festival of Future Cities, which will examine small and medium-sized cities as interconnected systems and explore how different urban elements can work together to shape their future.
Key areas discussed included the use of technology to create safer public spaces, opportunities for green jobs and livelihoods for Panjim’s youth, and practical ways to connect innovation with the everyday needs of residents.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of viewing Panjim through multiple perspectives, including its people, environment, infrastructure, institutions and economy, rather than addressing individual urban challenges in isolation.
The exchange explored how these interconnected aspects could contribute to a more responsive and future-ready Panjim, while also opening up possibilities for initiatives beyond the upcoming festival.
