PERNEM: Mopa Airport Police have registered a case under Sections 3 read with 25 of the Arms Act, 1959, after five used ammunition rounds were allegedly found in the possession of a passenger during security screening at Manohar International Airport, Mopa.
According to the police, the offence was registered on June 8 at 10:46 a.m. based on a complaint filed by Lohith P.N., Duty Manager and Shift In-charge (Inline Screening) at the airport.
The accused has been identified as Manoj Kumar, 47, son of Mangal Sen Mitthal, a resident of Nagla Maliyan-1 near Railway Crossing, Sikari Hissai, Agra, Uttar Pradesh. He was scheduled to travel from Mopa to Delhi on Air India Express flight IX2762 and was allotted seat 24A.
Police said that during security screening at around 10 p.m. on June 7, airport security personnel detected five used ammunition rounds in the passenger’s possession.
The accused allegedly failed to produce a valid licence to possess or carry the ammunition and also could not produce permission from the competent authority to carry the same on board the aircraft, in violation of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) guidelines.
Mopa Airport Police have registered Crime No. 24/2026 under Sections 3 read with 25 of the Arms Act, 1959. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Akshay Parsekar of Mopa Airport Police Station.
