PANAJI: Considering the sporadic forest fires across the state, the Office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) today has decided to depute officers in the jurisdiction across Goa to closely monitor any incidents of forest fire incidents.
“Close monitoring of forest fire incidences. Assessment and deployment of required manpower for the purpose including patrolling to attend active forest fires in coordination with Fire and Revenue Departments, Village Panchayat and all concerned wherever required and also to coordinate with Police Department as per requirement,” the order states.
Further, the order states that the officers will supervise and ensure regular patrolling of Forest Frontline staff, trackers, and others to attend to any forest fire immediately to confine forest fire in a minimum area and to control further spread.
“Officers shall coordinate with DCF Working Plan to receive inputs about any new fire reported through FSI portal/alert and act accordingly,” it says.
If large fires are reported undetected after a gap of considerable time, the concerned forest Frontline staff will be held personally responsible.
Till further orders, the Headquarters of all the officers mentioned below will be their respective jurisdiction.
All concerned officers will furnish a status report on an hourly basis about new fire/ reoccurrence of any fire and any other related matter on a real-time basis in the official WhatsApp group Forest Officers Goa.
