MARGAO: A pedestrian was injured after being hit by a car near the railway gate at Chandor.
The case was registered at Maina Curtorim Police Station based on a state complaint filed by Assistant Sub-Inspector Jitendra Gaonkar.
According to police, the incident occurred on July 11, 2026, at around 8:17 pm, when Shubhashish Thripathy, a resident of Hinjewadi, Pune, Maharashtra, was allegedly driving a Hyundai Verna car in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Davorlim towards Chandor Market.
On reaching near the railway gate at Chandor, the car allegedly struck Jose Sabestiao Rodrigues, a resident of Eklati, Curtorim, who was walking along the side of the road.
The pedestrian sustained bodily injuries in the accident.
A case has been registered against the driver, and further investigation is being carried out by ASI Jitendra Gaonkar of Maina Curtorim Police Station.
