BICHOLIM: A 40-year-old woman sustained grievous injuries after she was allegedly knocked down by an Ola Electric scooter near Tople Restaurant at Valshi, Mulgao, in Bicholim on Friday evening.
According to Bicholim Police, the accident occurred at around 7.30 p.m. on July 10, when Prathamesh Naik (29), a resident of Shivolkarwada, Mulgao, was riding an Ola Electric scooter (GA-04-Z-3375) from Bicholim towards Mulgao.
Police said the rider allegedly drove the scooter in a rash and negligent manner and hit pedestrian Anita Patil (40), a resident of Shirodwadi, Mulgao, who was crossing the road from the right to the left side.
The impact left the victim with grievous injuries to her left leg along with other bodily injuries. She was initially shifted to CHC Bicholim in a 108 ambulance and was later referred to GMC Bambolim, where she is undergoing treatment.
During the investigation, police recorded the statement of the injured woman. A notice under Section 35(3) has been issued to the accused rider.
The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by HC Umesh Naik of Bicholim Police Station after an inquiry into the motor vehicle accident. Further investigation is in progress.
