PANAJI: To meet the December 31 deadline, residents have complained that they have been compelled to stand in long queues in the scorching heat at Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) agencies to complete the ‘Know Your Customer’ (KYC) process.
GOACAN today clarified that MPG dealers cannot force any consumer to link Aadhaar Card to their LPG connection as there is NO SUBSIDY involved in the price that the Consumer is paying.
“GOACAN hereby warns all LPG dealers of BharatGas, HPGas & Indane that they will face action under Consumer Protection Act 2019 if they try to promote this linking as “complusory” or enforce any deadline of 31st December 2023,” said Roland Martins
He further said that there is NO notification of any Government authority that makes Aadhaar Card linkage as compulsory.
Long lines of customers many of whom were senior citizens were seen across state on at the Bharat Gas and HP locations to link their Aadhaar cards.
They asked why, in order to link their Aadhaar cards to various services, they have to wait in line.
They claimed that people are made to wait in line by taking leave, and that people are made to stand in the hot sun and politicians drive around in opulent cars.
He said that the government ought to at the very least erect a canopy in front of the gas agencies.
The public questioned why they were compelled to make payments online.
