MOPA: A 59-year-old man was allegedly caught red-handed while conducting gambling activities in a public place at Chawatha, Ibrampur, Pernem, on June 11, 2026. The operation was carried out by Mopa Airport Police Station following a State complaint lodged by Bhagwant Shetkar, Head Constable 4772.
According to police, at around 3:45 pm near Sateri Hotel, Chawatha, the accused, Shyamsundar Dattaram Gawas, 59, a resident of Bhatlemwada, Ibrampur, Pernem, was allegedly accepting money from members of the public and issuing paper slips as part of a game of chance in an open public place.
During the raid, police seized ₹985 in cash in different denominations along with other gambling-related articles from the accused’s possession. A case has been registered, and further investigation is being carried out by Investigating Officer Bhagwant Shetkar of Mopa Airport Police Station.
